This depends on the quality of the inverter. Many of them don’t bother to create a true, smooth 60 Hz wave.
High quality UPS devices protect not only against power loss but also badly formed power inputs. They can detect a low quality inverter as failed input power and refuse it. They will switch to internal battery intermittently or permanently, depending.
Many UPS types will detect their own inverters as bad power. Don’t Daisy chain UPSes. It is a bad idea.
